Creating your own blog is not that hard to do, but it’s a lot. We decided on a provider and chose a blog name. But what happens next? Here are some basic blog tips that make blogging easier for beginners. When I first posted my first weblog on the internet five years ago, I thought it would be easier.
I assumed that I would write a few articles and gradually more visitors would come to me. The disillusionment followed, however, promptly. Almost no one was interested in my lyrics and no comments were left.
Well: Those are typical beginner mistakes that we make while blogging and meanwhile I’m smarter. I know what matters, how we prepare our content for readers and what we can do to make our blog successive.
You are like me? You’re a blog newbie, have just taken the first steps and wondering what a beginner should look out for blogging? Then you are right here! I invite you to take a look at the typical rookie mistakes with me. Here we go!
Blogging for beginners
Incidentally, the following blog tips are not subject to any order, but are only randomly arranged. No matter how your knowledge is, it is not necessary to work them all off. Rather, it is about skillfully bypassing the most common beginner mistakes and not treading into every penny on the internet.
Link to other bloggers
If you read through the first blog articles about blogging successfully or writing blog articles, you will sooner or later come across the term SEO. This means Search Enginge Optimization and it’s about positioning your own blog well on Google and other search engines.
One of the first lessons is not just to link to others, especially on thematic-like blogs, as it strengthens the competition on the Internet and even not from it. This mistake is made especially by beginners.
A blog lives on the link and other bloggers will refer you more often if you also link to their articles. So you increase your reputation and that’s good!
Comment a lot, get involved!
When I started my first blog, I thought that visitors would come sometime. But let’s be honest: how often do we leave a comment to other bloggers, how often do we discuss with other people on the internet? The answer is often: Well …, rather less!
Therefore, it makes sense to leave a comment to other bloggers. Especially with similar sites, it makes sense to talk about current blog articles and to actively participate. Especially beginners make the mistake of not participating in the blogosphere and give a lot of potential.
On the one hand, it promotes exchange, but on the other hand, new readers can come to your blog if you comment on other bloggers.
Be special, find a niche, get known!
Most beginners start blogging on it. And no: That’s not bad and probably not a problem. Everybody has started small and the question soon arises, about which one should blog at all.
However, it is often better to commit yourself to a specific topic and not to talk about God and the world. For example, this blog, the blog box, is all about blogging. Other pages are increasingly aimed at beginners in the IT industry. The possibilities are gigantic, so find yourself a hobbyhorse.
The advantage is obvious: The more special a blog is, the more interesting it is for your visitors and often lands faster in RSS Fees (Article: What is RSS?).
Read other blogs to stay up to date
If you have decided on a special niche or area, it makes sense to look at the competition as well. Which other blogs are there in your area? What are the other bloggers reporting about?
Beginners, in particular, tend to be blindfolded while blogging, but that’s fine in no case. If you also have other blogs from your area on the screen, you can act much more targeted and find appropriate topics for readers. Time regardless of the fact that it makes sense for the exchange!
If you read other blogs, you will learn what happens in your own niche, find new ideas for blog articles and improve your own writing style. So reading a lot is good!
Many beginners set up a blog to earn money on the Internet at some point. Of course it is possible to monetize your own blog. But good thing wants to have a while. It is rarely the case that we set up a blog and after a few minutes the cashier rings.
As newcomers, we should increasingly focus on creating good content in order to reach readers in the first place. It is strange and most of all dissuasive, if every link is only a partner link, each article is about a product.
In addition, most people lose their motivation very quickly, when the expected high altitude flight does not come, but the reality catch up with the beginner. A blog does not succeed overnight and it may take time for the project to run.
It is much better to get along without advertising and to focus on great and unique blog posts. So we create the necessary confidence to later earn money.
Write unique content
This sentence appears in various guidebooks and especially beginners are often faced with the question of what good or unique content is at all. This is not about reinventing the wheel, but rather illuminating it differently or even better.
Let’s take this example as an example. There are countless articles dealing with blogging for beginners. But in my opinion, these are often very, very scarce and are limited to a few tips. I try to pick up beginners with their knowledge and give detailed tips.
A good article thus takes on the concrete question of the visitor and tries to clarify it step by step. It is important to consider all factors and not just half or even incomplete instructions.
Full articles are usually linked more frequently by other bloggers and so find the first readers our page on the Internet. It is important to stand out from many competitors.
Be patient while blogging
Many beginners hope for blogging success overnight. However, this does not usually turn up. I myself run numerous pages that deal with very different topics. So I write about gifts, about blogging and also about browser games and other areas.
Normally, when you open a new blog, it’s completely unknown. Therefore, it makes sense to heed the entry-level tips from this article and continue to be patient with yourself and your own blog.
I’m running a blog that took almost a year to show significant success and visible traffic.
Patience is the alpha and omega of blogging. If a blog has become known over the years, you can quickly make new projects known about them. But the beginning is difficult …
Network, exchange yours
In one of the above points I already explained why linking and commenting on blogging is so important. But even behind the scenes, you can do a lot to bring your own blog forward.
If you have met a few competitors after some time, you can try to connect even more closely with them. Maybe you’ll give each other an interview, write a guest article in case of time constraints for the other or simply recommend the other’s blogs.
A working network is simply worth gold and has already saved me a lot of time on many projects.
If you know your area, you can connect and exchange with others. In the future, joint projects can be created or streams of visitors can be shared.
Webdesign and optics
Especially newcomers quickly take the first surface or grab the first-ever theme that offers its own blog software. However, it makes sense to look once, if there is not something suitable for your own blog.
When I make an online diary for kids, it may not make sense to choose a black business appearance, and the other way around, a banker might look weird when we welcome him to tender Rosaton.
Sometimes it makes sense to look at the other blogs in this area and maybe learn a little from it. It’s not about imitating or copying other websites, but you can learn very quickly what’s important to your visitors.
Anyone who deals with their own target group very well can assess quite well what they want. Ideally, our blog reflects that in looks and looks.
Regularity and consistency
Blogging is often a motivation for beginners. At first it all looks gorgeous and almost every day new articles appear on our blog. Over time, however, this regularity diminishes because there are hardly any visitors.
However, consistency is an important aspect of blogging, especially since feed subscribers want to be pampered with current tips and tricks or hints. It’s not about writing masses of blog articles, but finding your own rhythm and maintaining it.
I’ve been in a blog article before with the question, How often should you blog and I would like to recommend this at this point! Here is a detailed description of the cycle I would recommend blogging!
Blogging is not about publishing hundreds of posts in a short amount of time. Rather, it is crucial to show a recognizable regularity. This is especially important for Neuleser!
Set intermediate goals and follow them
As a beginner, you are often faced with the question of when a blog is considered successful and how to recognize that it is really going on! However, it is difficult to give a general answer and therefore it makes sense to pursue your own goals.
There was the first comment on your blog? Congratulation! How about tackling the next ten opinions? You may also want to publish a certain number of articles every week! Then get to the bacon!
I always set myself certain numbers of visitors as a brand, which I try to reach in a staggered period. This helps me with new blog projects, stay with the pole and motivate me for a long time.
Goals are important and many newcomers are quickly demotivated, because it does not really start with blogging. Therefore, it is good to set small and achievable goals and celebrate the achievement!
Use the social web
Everyone knows Facebook, Twitter or even Google Plus and the success of these networks right. More and more people are connecting, exchanging content and enriching the Internet. There are gigantic streams of visitors that are generated via such portals.
Ideally, you use these too. It’s not about clogging your own accounts with inconsequential messages – even if it’s of course helpful – but about showing your visitors this possibility.
If you offer the opportunity to share with your blog articles, it can bring a lot. It does not need its own fanpage or anything else, just the option for others to do it for you.
The potential of the social web is enormous, and beginners in particular often overlook this aspect. It is quite simple and you should also use this opportunity!
Blogging for Beginners – Was It All?
I could inflate this article many times over and give more blog tips for beginners. But that would probably be rather counterproductive, as it would increasingly turn to details and special things.
On the blog box you will find many more blog tips that I just want to put newcomers and newcomers to the heart in order to gain a foothold in the German blogosphere and bring your own blog up to scratch. Because blogging is really fun and just the exchange fetzen tremendously, if you tackle the matter properly.
