And I am totally grooving right now. Come to think of it, this is not the first time I’ve heard this song, but it’s a nice addition to have Grover serenading it to me. The tune, “The Song of Wonder (Dama Dam Mast Qalandar)”, comes from a 1970s Pakistani Lollywood film (Hollywood, Bollywood, see the connection?) and apparently makes for a very popular cover song. Wonderful, I want to hear more! I mean, as long as all covers include the moog synth. Just saying.

The plight of the teenage girl has just been captured in a YouTube music video. Watch as a trio of strong-willed teen girls vow to bond together and not sing or write about boys (but end up singing and writing about boys anyway). The classic high school tail. Oh, you poor girls. If only things would get better as you got older (they just kind of stay the same). Soon you’ll all vow to not sing or write about men paying for dinner (but end up singing and writing about how you expect them to anyway).

This little 8-month-old boy was born deaf, but after his cochlear implant is activated, he hears his mother’s voice for the first time. Now, I understand that you guys are all tough and stuff with your booze, future fridges and drugged out kittens, but sometimes it’s okay to get a little misty. In the end, you’re all just a bunch of sensitive flowers.

This year, Old Spice launched what may be the best commercial ever. Okay, maybe that’s debatable, but a man suddenly stating he’s on a horse only to reveal that yes, he’s no longer on a boat, he is on a horse, is an automatic win in my book. As is this kid. The boy your man could smell like. And look, he’s on a horse too! Damn that kid is suave for being only 11.

Craftster Kandee Corner fulfilled her childhood wish of recreating the game of Candy Land in her own garden. Because who didn’t dream of living in their own Candy Land as a kid?

She referenced 3 different styles of the board game, creating a happy medium with a fairly accurate path complete with the colorful walkway. And even though there may be no candy, there are plenty of themed micro-gardens and tulips to make up for it. Oh, and a bridge if you were lucky enough to land on that space.

In the words of Liz Lemon, I want to go to there. While we’re at it, why don’t I remodel my house to resemble my favorite childhood board games? Quick, to the nearest slide store!

I bet a lot of Etsy makers made a lot of bank on Max costumes/jumpsuit replicas when Where The Wild Things Are came out, but come on, that was so 2009. All of us cool kids who refuse to be adults in 2010 know that it’s all about Finn, Jake and Adventure Time now. It’s only a matter of time until you all have your own Finn cap, but until it starts raining silly hats, you’ll just have to buy one off of someone skilled (agirlfrommars’ Etsy shop – $20.00) or brave it alone and make his/her own following this video tutorial.

Totally found that by accident when I was looking for the auto-tune clip. Sweet! And it even has a clip of my awesome title reference. Algebraic! Yeah! Rhombus!

If anyone does actually make their own cap, which I am deeply considering, let us see it! Don’t be shy.

I got a long way to go before I even consider having kids, but this scooter has got me stumped by combining something I love, the scooter, with something I fear, launching my baby into traffic. And while I’d be completely willing to give up scooter’s for a baby’s safety, I can’t help but wonder who was it that thought this was a good idea?

Answer: All the people who made it, apparently.

For the development of the Roller Buggy, a great amount of  design and market
research was invested. At first, the combination of baby carriage and scooter was
tested in numerous plans and models after which the best results were optimized in a 3D model.

After the 3D model was created, a prototype was built and tried out in a park by placing a life size dummy into a third-party seat with seat belts.  As the security of the child has priority, two front brake disks are provided to enable speed reduction  at any time.

Child safety- Roller Buggy has a specially-made hydraulic brake system with two disk brakes that allow to reduce the speed and to stop. There is also a safety belt on the child’s seat. The child should be older than 1,5 years and the speed shouldn’t be faster than 15 km/h.

I don’t know, guys. I saw the test video.

And just look at this picture. That baby is in prime launching mode. Do you know how far babies travel in the air? Pretty far. Especially if they’re still all aerodynamic from birth. I mean, if they marketed this as a fun-for-parents baby catapult, it would be one thing. The “mom” in the test video sure looks like she’s having a great time. But a safe means for transporting a baby? Eh… Maybe they should take the video down.

First off, I’d like to congratulate Jennifer and Jeff with their double success at pregnancy and hope for the safe and healthy arrival of their twins. Now that I got that niceness out of the way, let’s get down to what I really think.

Maybe I’m just in a mood today, because I’m generally fairly mature about pregnancy and the biology of reproduction. Not to mention Star Wars is a great way to announce just about anything. But whoa, I could have done without the “kick-ass sperm” and “baby hole” labeling. A physically personal analogy is one thing, but “baby hole” is another. Kind of like how people have an opposition to the word “moist”? Yeah, well “baby hole” is now my “moist”.

Sorry, newbie parents. I know you’re happy and you should be. But you have the power to look past the placenta goo and labor poops. All I have is the ghost of “baby hole” echoing in my head. I’m sure you understand. Congratulations regardless.

And I thought my discovery and purchase of GV’s world domination map was the greatest thing to happen to a wall, ever.

Back to the dot-to-dots. I once lived in a place where we were in the process of tearing off all the fugly floral wallpaper, and I was given permission to do whatever I wanted to the walls. So I colored them. And it is probably the best time I’ve ever had in my room ever since I used to keep the LEGO box in my closet.

Now here’s my dilemma. What do I do when I finish connecting all my dots? Because there’s a good chance I won’t leave my room until it is done. It’s not that I’m compulsive, just a fan of activity books.

Also, what are we doing to kids? Tempting them with awesome color-on wallpaper and Crayola coloring tools and then telling them not to draw on the walls. Poor things. Meh, give them dot-to-dot wallpaper anyway and hope they’ll be good. They’ll love you forever. That is until they get in trouble and you have to get mean. Then you’ll suck.

Pictured above is Erik Martin, a 13-year-old boy from Seattle living with liver cancer. Like all of us, Erik has always wanted to be a super hero, and thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, he was for a day. Now, Erik is not just some ordinary boy with a colorful imagination. He already has a secret identity, Electron Boy, and when Seattle went to hell in a hand basket, Spiderman called on him to help.

Pulling off a wish like this one required a big story, and a lot of heart. And so, with a note of panic in his voice, Spiderman explained the dilemma: “Dr. Dark” and “Blackout Boy” had imprisoned the Seattle Sounders in a locker room at Qwest Field. Only Electron Boy could free them.

Erik got into his red-and-blue superhero costume, and called on the powers of Moonshine Maid, who owns a DeLorean sports car. For good measure, more than 20 motorcycle officers from the Bellevue Police Department and King County and Snohomish sheriff’s offices escorted Electron Boy to Seattle.

“They shut down 405 — they shut down I-90,” marveled Moonshine Maid, aka Misty Peterson. “I thought it would just be me, in the car.”

At Qwest Field, Electron Boy was directed by frantic fans to the Sounders locker room, where the entire team was shouting for help behind jammed doors. With a little help from Lightning Lad, the alter ego of local actor Rob Burgess, Erik opened the door with his lightning rod. The Sounders cheered.

And that was just the beginning of it. In the end, Electron Boy essentially saved the city, through an intricate series of events demanding his powers and heroism.

Seattle City Councilwoman Sally Bagshaw stepped forward with a key to the city and a proclamation that Thursday was Electron Boy Day. Afterward, Erik posed for the TV cameras, flexed his muscles and spent some time astride a Bellevue police motorcycle.

Now before you go off on your fun and busy weekend, I ask that you go ahead and give the article of Erik’s day as a superhero a read. I’m warning you, it will make you a little misty, but this is by far one of the greatest stories, if not THE greatest story, I’ve heard in a long time.
