Because Tickling Is Scientific
By nikkita | July 7, 2009

So one day some scientists were like “hmm, I wonder what the origin of laughter is,” and like scientists do, they found money, resources and whatever it is they needed to carry out a wacky experience to come to some kind of conclusion that they can sell back to us. So what did they do? Tickled babies and monkeys. Ok, to be more specific they tickled 3 babies and 21 monkeys (orangutans, gorillas, chimpanzees and bonobos) and recorded their laughter to link which sounds were similar to each other, concluding that both babies and monkeys (or humans and apes) inherited their laughs from a shared ancestor over 10 million years ago.
…I wonder if I can get a grant to eat peanut butter.
Read more about the tickle study here. It might make you want to be a scientist. Or to just tickle babies and monkeys. Same thing.
