New Clouds?
By nikkita | June 7, 2009

No, this is not a Van Gogh painting, the opening for The Neverending Story or a product of Photoshop’s liquify tool. These are legit clouds. And according to cloud enthusiast and head of the Cloud Appreciate Society, Gavin Pretor-Pinney, they’re new to the cloud scene and need some proper classification of their own. Pretor-Pinney is working with the British Royal Meteorological Society to have the “Asperatus Clouds” officially classified by the World Meteorological Organization. I guess new things need to happen so we can keep learning something new everyday. Do you know what I learned today? I really like the term “cloud enthusiast.”
Not enough meteorology for you? Read more about asperatus clouds here (with pictures!).
