Passport To Cookie Town
By nikkita | November 17, 2008

Micah Spear is determined to crack a smile from a customs agent with his Cookie Monster adorned Passport. While I’d love for the Cookie Monster and Elmo to star in my Passport, I can’t imagine any customs agent being too happy with it. And having lived outside of the country before, I’ve had quite a few weird exchanges with them, some of which lead me to believe that if I dared travel anywhere on my Cookie Monster Passport that I’d be immediatley slapped in the face with it. While admittedly, many custom agents have been plenty friendly, there are many others who have a serious authority complex and some unexplained drive to make you miserable. For instance the one man that was so determined to catch me in a lie, on my way for Christmas from Iceland.
Him: How long have you been out of the country?
Me: 4 Months.
Him: Are you sure?
Me: Uh, yes…
Him: So what are you doing overseas?
Me: I’m going to school.
Him: Oh really? So what do you do?
Me: Uh…study?
Then he stared at me for a long time before reluctantly stamping my Passport. Yeah, I probably should have just come clean to him about the 12 kilos of ballooned cocaine in my stomach and the 20 people in my suitcase. And by balloons of cocaine I mean fish, and by people I mean wool sweaters.
