Scannerific Toast
By nikkita | September 12, 2008

The Electrolux Scan Toaster is a toaster concept by designer Sung Bae Chane that, when hooked up to the internet via USB, can actually print images and text on bread, thus making it toast. The Scan Toaster concept was actually a finalist in the 2008 Electrolux Design Competition, and I can see why. While it may never make it into production, like many conceptual designs, I challenge you not to come up with something awesome to print on your toast. Why would that be hard? Because anything printed on toast would be awesome. It’s toast, after all.
For my breakfast, I think I’m going to go with Nixon and then slather him in peanut butter. Then I could tell people that I ate Nixon, slathered in peanut butter.

Glad you liked the Scan Toaster! We at Electrolux think it looks lie a lot of fun, too. And, as someone who worked in the ‘72 McGovern Campaign — in North Carolina — I approve of your plan for it. Alas, still just a concept. But you never know.

Great blog, by the way. Bookmarked. Fantastic gadgets, some useful, some silly (I’ll leave others to judge where Scan Toaster fits).
