PAX 08 - What’s In Store…

I am so excited to report that I will be joining the GV crew to Seattle for this year’s Penny Arcade Expo. We will be en route early tomorrow morning and I’ve got almost all of my ducks in a row. This year’s PAX has a lot to offer and you can be sure to know that Coop, Sarah, Tim, Sean, Paige and I are ready to rock. Here’s some things that I’m looking forward to.
The Floor:
The convention floor will be buzzing for sure, and I plan to make the rounds. I look forward to booths, swag and of course, cosplayers. You’ll find me chatting and chewing the fat with the masses while I stuff their pockets with Gamervision swag when they’re not looking. Since PAX is a public event, you can bet there’ll be plenty of people to entertain me.
Nerdcore Rising:
Nerdcore Rising follows MC Frontalot the “Godfather of Nerdcore: on his first national tour to reveal the roots of the genre, the dorky complexities of its artists, and one MC’s fight for nerd stardom. Featuring Weird Al Yankovic, Prince Paul, Jello Biafra, Tycho & Gabe, Brian Posehn, MC Frontalot, MC Chris, MC Lars and a slew of other nerdcore artists and commentators.
I first heard about Nerdcore Rising a couple of months ago through SxSW coverage, where it made it’s world premiere. Lucky for me, it will be making it’s west coast debut at PAX and I am so attending the screening. I will also be meeting up with director Negin Farsad for an exclusive interview. I’m pretty positive we’re all going to love her.
Music and Concerts:
For Friday night I will definitely need to catch some Freezepop. I wonder if they’ll let me bring my Guitar Hero controller. I know Sean is pretty excited for seeing the 1Ups again. And Saturday, following the west coast premiere of Nerdcore Rising, I will totally be checking out MC Frontalot. So sad MC Chris can’t make it out this year, but we shall move on.
Panels:
Oh man, I wish I could attend them all. At least there’s a big group of us to split them up so we can all take something away from everything. In other words, we’ll be leaving Seattle at least twice as smart as we were when we arrived.
Precipice Of Darkness Costume Contest:
Our very own Tim will be partaking in the costume contest being held at the Hotheads booth. Let’s see if he can wipe out the competition and win double!
The Party:
I got my lampshade ready. Now let’s pump Coop up with some whiskey, Sarah with some jager and boogie!
Dairying:
It goes without saying that I won’t be carrying out the normal and expected Dairy line up over the next few days, but I assure that I will still be on the prowl for any Dairy worthy goods to report along with our collective PAX coverage, live from PAX! Hey, if I have to make something up, then so be it. I have a great imagination! Fine fine, I won’t report my head movies as exclusive content..
Well folks, I must get back to packing. Maybe my roommate will be willing to knock me out with a baseball bat so I can get over the happy dinosaurs in my tummy and actually get some rest. Stay tuned for live PAX 08 coverage, snip-its, pictures, stories and more!
