With all the paper and plastic materials that we plow through, we’re finding ourselves knee deep in waste. As 1992 as the three R’s are (recycle, reduce, reuse) there’s a bit of truth in it all. Lately creative minds have been finding unique and useful ways to reuse some abundant materials. The most interesting to me is those who’ve achieved fibers from trash. While you may not be too keen on wearing a newspaper sweater, there’s plenty of uses for newspaper yarn. Mats, curtains, netting, even upholstery, just to name a few.
So if you got the skills for knitting, check out GreenUpgrader’s “Handspun Recycled Newspaper Yarn” tutorial and get down to business.
